Join us for an expert dialogue on artificial intelligence in higher education and society. Artificial intelligence is reshaping higher education in ways that are both promising and deeply uncertain....
Across the country, colleges and universities are grappling with fundamental questions about teaching, learning, academic integrity, workforce preparation, and the very purpose of a college degree. These are not abstract debates. Instead, they are unfolding in our classrooms, our departments, and our institutional planning right now.
An Invitation from President Jack R. Warner
I am pleased to invite you to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ’s second Presidential Forum, Partners in Progress: Navigating AI’s Promise and Peril Together. These forums are built on a simple conviction: that the questions shaping our future deserve open, honest, and constructive dialogue, and that creating space for exactly that kind of engagement is part of what a college education should do. At Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ, we believe learning to navigate difficult, high-stakes conversations is not a byproduct of higher education. It is one of its core purposes.
Our featured speakers are uniquely positioned to help us think it through:
- John Warner – is one of America’s sharpest and most trusted voices on education, writing, and the human stakes of AI. His most recent book, More Than Words: How to Think About Writing in the Age of AI (Basic Books, 2025), makes a compelling case that writing is thinking, and that what AI cannot replicate is exactly what higher education must protect. A longtime columnist for Inside Higher Ed and the Chicago Tribune, Warner brings both moral clarity and practical wisdom to the question of what we stand to lose, and what we must defend.
- Michael Littman – is Brown University’s inaugural Associate Provost for Artificial Intelligence, a role created specifically to guide one of our nation’s leading research universities through the challenges and opportunities AI presents. A computer science professor and co-author of Code to Joy, he also chaired the landmark One Hundred Year Study on Artificial Intelligence, the most comprehensive national assessment of AI’s impact on society. Littman brings both deep technical expertise and a rare gift for making these ideas accessible to broad audiences.
Together, they’ll engage in a frank, open dialogue that will be followed by audience discussion built around real AI scenarios facing Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ.
